Dr. Xu Simon
Xu Simon earned her BA in Biochemistry from Rice University and, in 2008, completed her Ph.D. in Biophysical Chemistry and Molecular Structure at MIT. After conducting postdoctoral studies in structural biology at Brandeis University, she served for two years as an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Policy Fellow. Her placement was in the US Department of State’s diplomatic office responsible for reducing the threat of chemical weapons use abroad (ISN/CTR/CSP) and spanned the 2013 Syria chemical weapons crisis, giving her high-profile international crisis management experience. She became so interested in international science diplomacy that she obtained her MBA in Global Business from Bentley University in 2015. She has worked her way up from technical to high-level executive positions in two microbiology and engineering-based startup companies. She also published academic research on the intersectionality of academic and industrial science at Bentley University’s Center for the Integration of Science and Industry. She currently serves as Chief Technology Officer at Enozo Technologies in Andover, MA, and owns an independent speaking, consulting, and mediation business focused on helping executive and technical professionals resonate together for maximal impact. In addition, she has served as an adjunct professor while working full-time and is passionate about enabling scientists to make their best possible contributions to the world.
