Technology Transfer Virtual Seminar
Do you have an interest in a career at the intersection of science, business, and law? Are you interested in learning about the field of technology transfer? Join UW-Madison GWIS for a virtual career seminar with Dr. Ellen Zalucha, a Licensing Associate at Nationwide Children’s. Dr. Zalucha received her doctorate in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, and did a technology transfer-focused postdoctoral fellowship at the NIH NIAID. This event will be held on Wednesday, Feb 11th at 4 pm CT.

Personal Finance Seminar
Are you interested in learning more about personal finance? Do you have questions about investing as a graduate student or trainee? Please join GWIS for a personal finance seminar with Dr. Carolina Mendoza Cavazos. This seminar will be Friday, February 20th, 4:30 pm in Biochemistry Building Room 2131 (420 Henry Mall). There will also be a virtual option for those who cannot attend in person.

Three Minutes Thesis Finals
The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Finals Competition will take place on Friday, February 20, from 12:00–1:00 PM in the DeLuca Forum at the Discovery Building. 3MT is an international competition where graduate students present their research to a general audience in three minutes. GWIS–Beta officers helped organize the event and fundraise cash prizes.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the GWIS–Madison 2025 Kick-Off Meeting! It was wonderful to see so many new and returning members come together to connect, share ideas, and start the year with energy and enthusiasm. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our GWIS–Madison Apple Picking Social! It was a wonderful afternoon spent enjoying the fall weather, connecting with members, and building community outside the lab. We’re grateful for everyone who came and made the event so much fun.
Madison Marathon Volunteer Event
Thank you to everyone who attended our Madison Marathon fundraising event. Together, we helped runners brave the cold temperatures and smash personal athletic goals by handing out care packages on the race sidelines. The money raised by this event will be used to fund future GWIS events and scholarships vital for our organization’s mission!
Hockey Match Game Social
Thanks to everyone who joined us for the GWIS–Madison hockey game social! It was such a fun night to unwind, cheer on the team, and enjoy time together. We’re already looking forward to the next outing!

Huge thank you to WARF for the Q&A on From Discovery to Design: Women in IP and Innovation. The conversation on women’s roles in IP, patent law, and tech transfer was incredibly informative and sparked thoughtful discussion among attendees.
