A mentor can be an important source of support for personal and professional development. While the chapter brings together undergraduates, new graduate students, and senior graduate students socially, we also offer participation in a formal mentorship program:
BUGS is a mentorship program that was founded by GWIS Madison Chapter and administered by the UW Greater University Tutoring Service (GUTS). The program pairs undergraduate science students with graduate student or postdoctoral mentors, who can then advise on topics such as what graduate school is like, how to get research experience and recommendations, what academia has to offer, and what career options are available.
If you’re interested in mentoring a student, all you have to do is apply!
