Hey GWIS-Madisonites! The National GWIS organization is hosting an exciting webinar series this year focusing on mentoring. This month’s webinar will focus on career sponsorship versus mentorship with Dr. Elizabeth Travis.

The webinar will be on October 31st, 2017 at 3pm Central time via google hangouts. To register, make sure you’ve signed up to be a member of GWIS here. Then sign up for the webinar here!

Dr. Travis is the Mattie Allen Fair Professor in Cancer Research at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Department of Experimental Radiation of Oncology. Dr. Travis spoke at this year’s GWIS National Conference and her talk was highly praised for its useful advice and wisdom. We hope you can join us to hear about her experiences and advice and to ask questions about how to find effective sponsors for your career.

Become a GWIS officer!

Serving as an officer for GWIS is a great way to make an impact on the direction of our organization. If you care about women’s issues, science careers, and outreach, it’s an opportunity to start up new programs to benefit yourself and your community.

It’s an opportunity to make connections – not just with other officers, but with departments across campus and experts in our fields who want to hear what you have to say. It’s also an opportunity to make friends with like-minded people!

(And, we might add, something to put on your CV.)

We’re recruiting for the 2017-2016 school year! Our transition meeting will take place at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, May 23.

Fill out this form to apply!
